About Me
Hey, I'm Elizabeth. I'm not a contractor, an Instagram influencer, a house-flipper, a furniture refinisher, or even a particularly creative person. I'm just a girl, standing in front of a house, asking it to be more livable.
By day, I work full-time as a director of marketing and communications for Graduate Studies at UC Davis, not far from where my husband works as a postdoctoral researcher in a neuroscience lab. Our son, Teddy, is a ball of concentrated energy and curiosity who is known to burst out the front door unaccompanied while yelling, "It's a beautiful day!"
When we're not juggling deadlines or play dates, we're trying to check an item or two off our neverending list of home improvement projects.
About Casita Verbena
"Casita Verbena" is a 1,500 square foot Spanish bungalow located in Woodland, CA. The house was built in 1935 by noted Northern California contractor Joseph Motroni, who is credited with building a number of Spanish Colonial Revival houses throughout Yolo County. While the house still retains many of its original features, it's undergone a few renovations over the years, namely a kitchen renovation and the conversion of a side porch into a laundry room.
I'll write a proper biography for the house later, but the basics will do for the moment.
